POLY Assists Wallace Community College First Annual Science Decathlon

November 8, 2013 – Dothan, AL – Engineers from Poly assisted Wallace Community College by proctoring several events at the First Annual Science Decathlon. Jim Clarke, AIA (Architect) and Jeff Tyler, PE (Mechanical Engineer) assisted with the egg drop. Bruce Bradley, PE (President/Civil Engineer) assisted with an event in which students were required to identify and name 20 different rock and mineral samples using only the knowledge they had learned in their local school curricula. Participants from local area middle and high schools competed and all events were conceived and designed by WCC staff. Events sought to boost awareness and interest in the sciences by showing real world examples of how what you learn in school applies to everyday life. POLY is proud to have been able to serve the community in this way!
