This Destin Water users project was a multi-phase, multi-year project that included the construction, surface preparation, and painting of a new 750,000 gallon elevated potable water storage Tower #5 near Choctawhatchee Bay. The project was broken into separate construction and painting contracts for quality control and cost saving purposes. The total final project cost of the painting portion was $781,637 including full mural. The resulting two projects (which included a full underwater scenic mural not in original budget) came in under the $2.5M original budget. The final product was awarded the 2020 Tank of the Year for the US by Tnemec, Inc. in Oct 2020. Among the nearly 300 water tanks submitted for the contest, the Destin tank stood out and was chosen based on its unique design, its contribution to the community and the innovative coating systems used.
